I went to the inauguration yesterday and saw Obama get sworn in. It was amazing to be in Washington DC and see him give his inspiring speech. I think that he's true, we do have a lot to work on in our country and it's not going to be easy, but I think he'll help this country a lot by getting us out of war and helping our economy change.
I loved the inauguration but there were a few things that weren't so good about getting to it. UGH. First we had to go on a SUPER packed metro train. I am a very clautrophobic person and I didn't have room to breath. People kept trying to step on me and my friend because they couldn't see us and thought it was an empty space. Luckily, then two nice men helped us by letting us go in their foot space in their seats. They also did magic tricks for us and chatted with us for the whole way we were with them. Then, we got off the train and realized that the other train had hit someone and was out was out of business so we had to walk but when we walked there was security blocking everywhere and we had to go back and forth trying to get to the Newseum, where we watched the inauguration.
The Newseum was awesome. They had a lot of touch screens where you could play games on and you got to be a reporter and read off of a teleprompter. We also interviewed at least five people. So far there have been a lot of good things and some bad things on this trip but I know I am really lucky to be here. I know I will remember this trip for a very very long time.
Today we're going to see Washington monuments and go to some awesome museums. I'll report back to you when I'm done.
Bye!

ReplyDeleteSo I could tell that you and your mom were having a great time at the Inauguration because I was watching it on TV in my office in Seattle... and during the speech... the camera went right on your mom! It was cool, Sal. At first I wasn't sure it was her because what are the chances that out of 2 million people in DC, that the camera would get your mom? But then a few minutes later I also saw Laura and then I knew that ABC must have had a camera at the Newseum. Your mom looked very inspired so I'm certain it was an amazing day. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sally. I am one of Ami's friends from work and she's been telling us about your amazing trip to DC. It's nice to hear it from her, but it's nice to get the updates from your blog too.
ReplyDeleteI have a question about the inauguration on Tuesday. We got to see it on television where cameras were set up very close to the stage so we saw everything. Since there were so many people at the event, do you feel like you could see enough of what was going on or do you feel like you missed some parts because of the crowds?
jbc I was in the newseum when I watched the inaguration so I saw it on a T.V.(a 20 by 40 foot screened T.V. to be exact). So I wasn't really blocked by crowds at all but thank you for asking.
